Monthly FDCPA Litigation Statistics for March

In March, 960 cases were filed in U.S. District Courts for alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and TCPA. This is the highest number of cases that have ever been filed in one month.

Year to date case totals are at 2542, trending to surpass 10,000 cases for the year. 

For all U.S. District Court filings in March, the five states with the highest filings were California (121), New York (116), Pennsylvania(116), Minnesota (67)and Florida (66). These five states represent 51% of all cases filed in the U.S. and Puerto Rico in March. Over 15% of all cases filed for the month were filed in Districts that the plaintiff did not actually reside.
