During its 71st Annual Convention & Expo on July 11-14, 2010, in Washington, D.C., ACA International is coordinating ACA Hits the Hill for credit and collection industry members to meet with their representatives in Congress.

“With several vital decisions about the future of the credit and collection industry in its hands, it is imperative now more than ever that as many ACA members join us to share their perspective with Congress,” said Rozanne Andersen, chief executive officer of ACA International.

Currently, Congress is debating critical financial legislation that could produce a new layer of oversight to the credit and collection industry and FCC regulation regarding the use of cell phones in debt collection. Congress could begin debating FDCPA reform in the next 12-18 months.

“ACA members are important constituents of their elected representatives in Congress and this is an essential time to engage them on our issues,” said Valerie Hayes, ACA general counsel and vice president for legal and government affairs.

Building on its popular and growing Washington, D.C., fly-in efforts for ACA members, ACA Government Affairs staff will prep ACA members and coordinate office visits to their respective U.S. representative and U.S. senators.
