In an effort to encourage employees and Americans as a whole, to live healthier lives and have healthier hearts, North American Credit Services (NACS) celebrated National ‘Go Red’ on February 1st, at its Chattanooga, Tenn. corporate headquarters.
The American Heart Association’s (AHA) ‘Go Red for Women’ celebrates the energy, passion and power of women who band together to wipe out heart disease and stroke. NACS’ 200-plus employees were provided little red dress AHA pins; a symbol in the shared fight against heart disease.
“We encouraged all of our employees to wear the red dress pins proudly throughout February to show their support in this important national movement of women’s heart disease,” shared Beverly J. Bunton, Senior Vice President and Corporate Officer with NACS and Medical Services of Chattanooga.
Additional company ‘Go Red’ activities included: Wear Red Fridays, Employee Wellness Lunch ‘n Learn featuring a Healthy Living Nutrition Expert from Gaining Ground Chattanooga, along with an employee give-back blood donation drive in support of the regions only blood bank.
“Employee wellness partnerships such as the AHA’s Go Red initiative, creates an opportunity in workplaces such as ours, to engage employees in increased health prevention and awareness, while at work and after-hours in improving one’s personal health,” states Bunton.
According to a recent national study released from the American Heart Association, Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. “This means women; mothers, sisters, and friends are dying at the rate of one per minute,” said Dale Huffstetler, Vice President with the American Heart Association’s Tennessee State Office. “Because, they simply don’t know that heart disease kills.”
