On May 2, 2012, the Commercial Law League of America’s Board of Governors unanimously voted to change the association’s business model.

The Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) and the Commercial Collection Agency Association (CCAA) will become separate entities with a distinct alignment for further business opportunities on behalf of their respective members.

“The CCAA membership looks forward to the new structure and its ability to offer an even stronger strategic partnership with CLLA, an alliance it has had for over 40 years,” says Annette Waggoner, Executive Director, Commercial Collection Agency Association.

“This new business model will help both organizations grow and thrive in the modern commercial law market,” says CLLA Executive Vice President Oliver Yandle.

An Implementation Committee has been formed to address the structural and contractual changes needed to implement the decision. The committee is expected to present its report to the CLLA Board of Governors by Aug. 1, 2012.

CLLA separately announced that Ivan J. Reich, Shareholder of the Fort Lauderdale office of GrayRobinson, P.A., was sworn in as CLLA President on Saturday, May 5 at the 80th Annual CLLA Spring Meeting in Chicago.

“We are proud of Ivan’s continued dedication to the Commercial Law League of America,” said GrayRobinson President Byrd. F. “Biff” Marshall, Jr.  “We are confident he will lead the league’s board of governors as they provide legal, educational and professional services to the business and credit communities.”
