Convergys Corp. is continuing its U.S. call center expansion, opening its latest location in Las Cruces, N.M. The company said it plans to employ about 500 at the new center, mostly customer service associates, according to a story in Customer Interaction Solutions magazine. It added that it is opening the center to handle increased business from an unnamed client in the wireless industry.
The Las Cruces facility is the second Convergys has opened in New Mexico in the past 12 months. Last January, it purchased the assets of America Online’s call center in Albuquerque, hiring about 250, with plans to double employment over five years.
The company also announced in 2007 that it would open call centers in Longview, Texas, and off Interstate 275 in Erlanger.
Convergys (NYSE: CVG), headquartered in Cincinnati, provides customer care, human resources and billing services worldwide.
