Per-Se Technologies, the Connective Healthcare leader that helps physicians, pharmacies and hospitals realize their financial goals, today announced the availability of its ePREMIS Version 2.5 claims management system to help hospitals improve revenue and reduce costs through more efficient claims management. New features include payer claim status, extended Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) capabilities and support of the National Provider Identifier (NPI) standard. ePREMIS is a workflow-oriented, HIPAA-ready, all-payer claims management solution, and is available either as a Web-based ASP service or traditional turnkey software.

Hospital billing staff can spend up to 80% of their time reworking claims to submit to payers for payment. As manual intervention increases, the cost of processing claims also significantly increases. To help hospitals reduce the time it takes to follow up on claims and in order to improve revenue, ePREMIS 2.5 includes a new automated payer claim status function. ePREMIS 2.5 routes claims to hospital billing staff based upon the latest payer claim status claim type (277), which is then linked to the claim. If claim status has not been received, then Per-Se’s medical transaction clearinghouse will continue to send solicited claim status requests claim type (276) to the payer, on behalf of the hospital, until the payer finalizes the claim. This automation results in earlier identification and correction of claim errors for faster adjudication.

“Hospitals cannot leave reimbursement to chance. ePREMIS 2.5 makes the revenue cycle more predictable by automating scheduled and event-driven processes,” said Dave Mason, Hospital Solutions president, Per-Se Technologies. “All of our Revenue Cycle Management solutions, from software to services, provide hospitals with the insight and flexibility to adopt industry best practices into their organization to drive greater efficiencies and increased profitability.”

ePREMIS 2.5 also further extends regulatory CCI editing capabilities to all payer business, based on industry coding standards. This feature allows hospitals to evaluate any claim against CCI requirements to ensure that correct coding rules are followed. Version 2.5 also provides more tools to manage the submission process and ease a hospital’s transition to the NPI system prior to the May 2007 compliance deadline.

Current ASP customers can benefit from these new tools immediately and all ePREMIS customers can take advantage of a product-training program, which includes instruction on the new Version 2.5 features.

ePREMIS helps hospitals manage the challenges of high accounts receivable days and the increasing cost of collections by streamlining the claims reimbursement cycle. With connectivity to more than 1,500 government and commercial payers, and the broadest editing capabilities in the industry, ePREMIS improves efficiencies and contributes to increased margins and productivity by reducing the steps necessary to perform routine claims management functions.

All of Per-Se’s revenue cycle management solutions for hospitals will be featured at HFMA ANI Booth# 609 in Orlando, Florida, until June 21.
